The next meeting at Morrette's will be on Wednesday September 12th.
If you still use your Commodore please support those that continue to make wonderful advances in the software capabilities of the 64 and 128 Commodore computers. Recent discussions at meetings have included the recent absence of Commodore support. Although Maurice has taken over CMDs hardware and is planning new advances, the message board on his web site contains many messages that out right attack Maurice for not filling orders and just plain disappearing. No one has been able to communicate with him for months, but there is a full discription from Maurice of how his site went down before Christmas and what it took to get it up and running. Also he replied to a message left about an FD4000 and the possibilty of putting some togeather if the drives could be found. Many people on the Web have are taking other steps like using the newer IDE interface for hard drives. Another troubling thing that has happened recently is that Loadstar hasn't been sent out since April and that was a disk that should have arrived in December.
We as a club are chugging along with less demos and more conversation. Lets face it we're all busy. I'm still working on thumb drives for the club members to use with their PCs and hopefully they can become familiar with the VICE emulator. I believe that part of our existence is preservation and even more so now. Being able to work on Commodore things using a PC will be a big advantage, not to mention the mass storage as comparied to the Commodore. With the thumb drives we can pass volumes of files between each other for work on archieving them. I'd still would like to order one of those IDE hard drive interfaces to try out and of course a Commodore One, if they every get past the Beta stage.
For September's meeting we'll cover VICE and a copying program for creating disk images for use with the VICE program. I'm sure that there will be plenty to talk about, Commodore or not. See everyone there and think about what you would like to do to help in our preservation efforts. Thanks again........
Please join us at the meeting and at the least have some good food and conversation and you might learn something new.
